Michele Manzoni's artistic research can be traced back to the artistic current of expressionism
abstract. His works, in fact, rejecting any intent of naturalistic-mimetic figuration, yes
based on the expressive function of matter and color spots. Through the use of
particular techniques - scratching, dripping, brushing or sweeping brush strokes - strength
emotional color assumes a predominant role in his works, which are characterized
for a spatial arrangement without hierarchies or borders: the coordinates of the images are
consisting of color relationships, the trend of the sign and drippings.
What links the abstraction of his artistic experimentation to contingent reality are the titles
that the artist assigns to his works, revealing a concept of "Art" experienced as
experience: the work is not born from an a priori concept, but in a process of improvisation,
as evidenced by the pictorial gesture. The painting thus becomes a place of existence, a free space
by aesthetic conventions, in which the artist conveys his emotions and energies.
